Neverness to Everness Beginner Guide: Your First 10 Hours

Start with the prologue, take Jiuyuan or Sakiri from the standard selector, and spend your first stamina on story progress and character ascension — not on Console farming. This Neverness to Everness beginner guide gives you a fixed order for the first 10 hours so you do not waste a week undoing early mistakes.

What do you do first in Neverness to Everness?

Finish the prologue before anything else. The opening runs through New Sillian, the Class VII anomaly called the Grand Vortex, and a seven-week stay on Ghroth Island; it ends when you sign with Eibon, the antique shop that fronts the anomaly hunters. That contract unlocks the hub, the mission board, and the systems every later guide assumes you already have.

Do not stop to farm, reroll, or inspect every menu during this section. The prologue is a tutorial with a fixed route, and the game hands you the standard selector soon after. Your only real decision in the first hour is which standard character to take.

The opening chapters, in order

  1. Chapter 0, An Unforeseen Omen — the Grand Vortex and the Eibon contract.
  2. Chapter 1, Business and Fortune — the shop opens and the first anomaly jobs arrive.
  3. Chapter 2, A Love Battle That Began With a Fabrication — the first multi-part case.
  4. Chapter 3, Deal? Deal! — faction introductions and the first real choice.
  5. Chapter 4, A Study in Red — the Red Letter thread starts here.

Chapter 4 is the point where the story stops holding your hand. If you plan to stop playing for the night, stop there rather than mid-chapter; the Red Letter setup is the first section that expects you to remember names.

Which standard character should you pick?

Take Jiuyuan if you have no main DPS, and Sakiri if you already own a limited carry. Jiuyuan groups enemies, works as a sub-DPS, and adds healing at E1; Sakiri groups and buffs damage, which every team can use. Baicang and Daffodill are correct second choices when the carry slot is already filled.

The corpus ranks the selector as Jiuyuan ≈ Sakiri > Baicang ≈ Daffodill > Fadia > Hathor. The full six-unit breakdown, the 50-pull unlock, and the element caveats are on the standard selector guide.

If you already pulled Nanally or Hotori from the launch banners, take the grouping support and skip the second carry.

What should you spend stamina on first?

Spend it on whatever the story gates require, then on Anomaly Hunt for character ascension materials. Do not touch Rabbit Hole before level 30. The full route is on the stamina priority page, but the early rule is simple: story first, ascension second, artifacts last.

  • Levels 1–30: story, overworld chests, and the first Anomaly Hunt clears. Skip Rabbit Hole entirely.
  • Levels 30–44: Anomaly Hunt on repeat; this is where your first team's ascension catches up.
  • Level 45: bank double-drop runs instead of spending every day; about 71% of runs give double gold [verify].
  • Level 50: move the bulk of your stamina into Rabbit Hole for Cartridges and Drive Blocks.
  • Every week: clear Anomaly Pilgrimage three times; the weekly cap is three.

If you are short on time, do the weekly bosses before dailies. Weekly clears cannot be made up later, while dailies can be recovered with a slightly worse rate.

How does a stable first team look?

Build one main DPS, one breaker, and one support before you build a second carry. A team that never breaks the Break Gauge loses 25% of its damage window, no matter how good the carry is.

  • Main DPS: Nanally (Anima) or Hotori (Cosmos) if you pulled them; otherwise Jiuyuan or Baicang.
  • Breaker: Daffodill is the standard answer; any high-toughness-damage unit works early.
  • Support: Sakiri for grouping and buffs, or Jiuyuan if he is not already your carry.
  • Fourth slot: whoever survives. Do not chase a perfect element ring in the first 10 hours.

Read the element and Ring Fusion page before you lock the fourth slot. Adjacent attributes matter more than raw power once you start chaining reactions.

Which systems can you safely ignore until level 30?

Ignore Console substats, perfect Drive Block sets, Urban Tycoon routing, and tier-list chasing until level 30. None of them block story progress, and all of them punish you for spending resources before your first team is stable.

SystemWhy it can waitWhen to come back
Console (Cartridge + Drive Blocks)Early pieces get replaced; substats matter at capLevel 45+
Arc Disc ascensionWeapon levels scale with character ascensionAfter your carry hits the story cap
Urban TycoonIt is a money loop, not a power spikeWhen you need Fons for shop upgrades
Tier listEvery launch character clears the storyBefore your first limited banner decision
CollectiblesThey give currency, not combat powerAfter the story route is open
Do not do this

Do not convert premium currency into standard pulls once you have your selector choice. Save 90 pulls for a rate-up S-rank; the guarantee is the only reliable spend in the game.

What changes when v1.5 arrives?

v1.5 goes live on November 11, 2026 for the global client, with the Chinese client opening on November 5. If you start now, you have time to finish the prologue and bank story currency before Elyms and Exe arrive. Do not hold every resource for the new patch; a unfinished first team will slow you down more than a missed banner.

The version calendar lists what each patch added, the banner halves, and the 90-pull guarantee.

FAQ

How long does the Neverness to Everness prologue take?

Plan one sitting. The prologue covers the Grand Vortex, Ghroth Island, and the Eibon contract before it hands you the hub. The corpus does not publish an hour count, so treat any exact number you see elsewhere as an estimate.

Should I reroll for Nanally or Hotori?

No. The standard selector gives you a strong unit after 50 standard pulls, and 90 pulls guarantee a rate-up S-rank later. Rerolling costs more time than the early power difference saves.

Can I skip the story and farm first?

No. Story chapters unlock the hub services, the mission board, and the domains the farming routes depend on. Rush the story to chapter 3, then farm.

Is Jiuyuan really better than Baicang for a new account?

For a new account, yes. Jiuyuan groups enemies and heals at E1, so he fills two slots. Baicang is a stronger dedicated carry but needs a team built around him.

What should I buy with my first premium currency?

Nothing yet. Save for a limited rate-up banner. The standard roster is covered by the selector, and the 90-pull guarantee is the best value you can plan around.
